1. I didn’t manage to pass the demo. The movement of the rocket is so slow that I was regularly dying within one screen of launch. English is not my native language and even after repeated slow reading of the instructions I didn’t understand how to actually select additional weapons. I ran the demo through the Cspect emulator.

   I’ve been following the project since the beginning, so I’ll see how the final version turns out and watch some “60Hz” videos natively on a real ZXN machine.

      Thank you for your valid comments. Remember that the demo is work in progress and many tweaks and changes will be made for the upcoming release. However instructions on how to change weapons and pickups is right at the begining of the game and would be interested in how you had difficulty understanding them. Regarding speed of the ship, like most of shmups speed increase is achieved by a speed pickup. keep playing and thank you for playing our demo.

      You shoot the case and the weapon opens to a spinning question mark, then you hold button the weapon select button down and move your movement controls (up/down/left/right) to select the different weapons, once selected you release the weapon select button and fly into the icon.

         In the videos I saw how you choose the weapons .. in the demo I pressed everything and I never got to the selection menu. I say to myself – I’m playing it on the emulator, god knows what’s going on there, so I won’t hassle with it.

         1. It’s not working. What is the difference between BUTTON C and KEY Z ? What does it actually mean. What is a button and what is a key ? Button on MD joypad ?

            I think the emulator or my English is to blame.

            I press the C key on the keyboard or I press the Z key on the keyboard and the menu to select the weapon still doesn’t pop up.

               What Joypad are you using on your PC with C-Spect to run the demo of TX-1696?

               If you are using a USB Megadrive pad (Which has buttons A,B and C) , Once you have shot the case the weapon opens to a spinning question mark. You hold the button (C) weapon select button down and move your movement controls (up/down/left/right) to select the different weapons, once selected you release the weapon select button and fly into the icon.

               If you are using the Keyboard (Your PC Keyboard) the key Z or Space (You hold as above) (Keyboard controls not Joypad) Remember C-Spect is configured for a genuine NEXT or N-go machine so the layout is different to a standard PC keyboard.

               Please note also the Demo and Game is also designed for use with a genuine machine and may not always be fully supported for the emulator.
